Securing important data requires a multi-layer approach that combines strong and secure systems and complementary processes. Gap Analysis – The first stage of ensuring secure systems is analyzing existing applications, infrastructure and processes. Corporate-wide standards are reviewed and applications are categorized by the data contained. Adherence to industry security practices are cataloged and remediation plans developed to bring all systems inline with security standards and policies.

Protect – This is where changes are enacted to ensure enhanced data security. Sensitive information such as credit cards are stored with encryption. User application access is restricted to only areas necessary for the user’s job. As a result, strict access management is enacted to enforce strong passwords and limit application access to those areas necessary for their job.

Manage – Most system security changes will also need to rely on new processes to be fully effective. System access should be reviewed periodically to validate that it is still needed. Vendors providing services or housing your data need to be assessed for compliance with your security standards. We provide education to systems users by explaining the importance of data security and policies implemented around hard and soft copy data retention.
